Lib Dem Councillor David Harrison has called on Southern Water to pay compensation to residents and businesses in Totton and the Waterside who have been left without water in the run up to Christmas.

For the second time in a year, residents have been left without water following a fault at Southern Water’s treatment plant at Testwood.

Southern Water told councillors that bottled water would be supplied to residents at Staplewood Training Ground in Long Lane, Marchwood, and hundreds of residents queued in their cars at the specified location. However, the water never arrived.

Apparently, the Lorries transporting the water got stuck in traffic and never arrived at their destination.

Cllr David Harrison, who is the Liberal Democrat County Councillor for Totton South and Marchwood, said:

“Southern Water promised Councillors that bottled water stations would be set up to provide emergency water to residents who need it.

“Their failure to honour that promise has left residents queuing for water that isn’t coming. It’s a disgrace.

“Southern Water must compensate residents and businesses who have been left without water so close to Christmas.”
