Save the New Forest: say NO to Southampton merger

Save the New Forest! Say NO to Southampton Merger

As part of the devolution deal between the Labour Government and Conservative County Council, the New Forest District Council is set to be abolished and merged into a new council covering a much larger area.

The most likely outcome, suggested by leading Conservative and Labour politicians, is for the New Forest to be merged with Southampton and Eastleigh.

As residents of the New Forest, we want to preserve what makes the New Forest such a unique and special part of Britain.

We are concerned that being merged with Southampton will make the New Forest nothing more than a part of “Greater Southampton”.

From bins to housing, the local decisions that affect the New Forest should be made in the New Forest, not in Southampton by politicians who don't understand our way of life.

Will you sign our petition to the Government and the County Council to make them see that the people of the New Forest do not want to be merged with Southampton?

Save the New Forest: NO to Southampton merger

We, the undersigned, call on the Government and Hampshire County Council to save the New Forest from being merged with Southampton.
