Jack with Parking Clock

Stop the Tory Parking Tax

At a time when the District Council should be helping local residents and businesses who are struggling with rising bills, the Conservatives in the New Forest are hitting them with a massive increase in the price of Parking Clocks and the hourly rate for car parks.

The price for town centre car parks is going up by £1 per hour (excluding the 1st hour which remains at £1).

The Annual Long Stay Clock is going up from £140 to £220 - an increase of £80!

The Annual Short Stay Clock is going up from £30 to £40 - an increase of £10!

The Quarterly Long Stay Clock is going up from £40 to £65 - an increase of £25!

New Forest Liberal Democrats voted against the increases because they simply weren't necessary. The increases could have been kept to inflation-only and spread out over multiple years to ease the burden on residents and businesses. Our amendment to keep increases to inflation-only was voted down by the Conservative majority on New Forest District Council.

We will keep fighting for any increases in car parking to be kept to inflation-only to protect residents and businesses. Will you join us?
